The people behind Smart Business Funding

Anthony founded Smart Business Funding in 2014 to fund the businesses banks turn away for reasons that have nothing to do with whether they can repay — a restaurant with seasonal swings, a contractor waiting on a receivable, a medical practice carrying equipment debt. He has led the company as Chief Executive Officer ever since.

He stays close to the work rather than above it: he sets credit policy himself and reads the harder files personally. Under his leadership the company was ranked No. 1,229 on the 2020 Inc. 5000, earned Better Business Bureau accreditation with an A+ rating, and holds a 4.5 Trustpilot TrustScore with 100% five-star reviews. It funds established businesses in all 50 states, from $10,000 to $5,000,000.

William handles accounting, finance and cash management.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the School of Management at Binghamton University, and studied at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York. He is an accountant by training, which shows in how the numbers behind the business are kept.

Cyril builds and runs our website. Most business owners find us through a search result, so the site has to do the work: rank for what they are searching, load fast, and make the application easy to finish on a phone. He owns that whole surface, from search engine optimization to the page builds in Elementor.

He works across the marketing side as well: social media, brand awareness and the way the company presents itself online, alongside the rest of the team. It is the same job viewed from two angles — making sure a business owner looking for funding can find us, and that what they find looks like a company worth trusting with their numbers.

Sandra’s main focus is the ISO channel — the brokers, agents and referral partners who bring transactions to Smart Business Funding. She is who they deal with day to day: getting a new partner set up, moving a submission through to the right desk, and making the relationship worth repeating so the next file comes here too.

She also drives a good deal of how the company shows up publicly — video, marketing and the Instagram presence — and works on sales alongside the rest of the team. She studied at Touro University and holds a degree in Holistic Nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Monique manages relationships with the brokers, agents and referral partners who bring transactions to Smart Business Funding. An ISO chooses where to send a file based on who answers, who gives a straight read on whether it will fund, and who does not waste their time — and that is the relationship she is responsible for holding.

She has spent more than ten years in financial services, which is the part that matters in practice: she knows what a submission needs to contain, what will and will not get through underwriting, and how to tell a partner early when a deal is not going to work rather than leaving them waiting on it.

Taylor is part of our business development team in Miami, where she handles brokers and broker relationships. She is a detail-oriented health sciences professional who brings that same care to working with brokers and to helping business owners find the right funding.

• Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, Sara Schenirer, New York, NY (expected 2026)
• Associate of Science, Broward College, Miami, FL (2025)

Daniela is part of our business development team, where she handles brokers and broker relationships. She works with the brokers who bring us deals and helps business owners find the right funding.

Ralph works on the risk side of the business, reviewing the information behind an application before it reaches a funding decision. That means reading what a business’s own records actually show — revenue activity, payment history and the operating details that determine whether a funding amount is realistic to repay — and surfacing the discrepancies that matter rather than the ones that don’t.

He holds a BSc in Information Technology, and that background shows in how he works. He operates across the systems the company runs on day to day — Google Sheets, kvCORE, Zendesk, Vici Dial and CallTools — which is where application data, client communication and call activity all live.

Krystal keeps the day to day running. She works across customer service and client retention, which means she is often the person a business owner hears from after the funding is in place — checking that things are going as expected and making sure questions get answered rather than sitting.

Heala works with the team on performing under pressure. Funding decisions get made against deadlines, on incomplete information, with a business owner’s livelihood on the other end of the call, and how people hold up in that environment shows up directly in the quality of the work. Her role is to help the team reach its full potential when the pressure is highest, rather than simply absorb it.

She holds a Master of Social Work from Touro University and is a Reiki Master certified through Beacons of Change in New York. Alongside her work here she runs her own practice, Zen Heala, offering private Reiki and guided meditation. She brings her social work training and her Reiki and mindfulness practice to the team, with a focus on staying calm, clear and focused under pressure. Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
